Subtitle Landscapes

This project attempts to describe 10 popular films using hard of hearing subtitles as a primary data source.
The subtitles are spaced according to their relative position in the film, resulting in overlap in periods of heavy audio description (action scenes etc.)
In addition the subtitles are coloured according to the average colour of the frame in which they first appear, thus a spectrum of the film is also revealed.
*Note: Films read from bottom to top NOT top to bottom

The designs were printed onto canvas and attached to roller blinds so that the viewer could have control over the information and reveal it at their leisure.
In this sense the function of the remote control - the ability to 'play', 'pause', and 'rewind' is reflected.
